Rangely Regional Library held their annual Summer Reading Carnival on Aug. 10. The attendance was overwhelming! Approximately 200 children and parents attended. The youngsters were treated to pony rides, cotton candy, musical chairs, balloon tying, bingo, duck ring toss, octopus ring toss, air pinball, milk jug toss, face painting, limbo, sack races and Tic-tac-toe. Hundreds of prizes were given out and delicious refreshments were served.
A big thanks goes out to the Rangely High School Student Council members who helped set up and tear down the carnival, in addition to running the booths. Additional thanks go to Connie Skelton and Tammy Dorris for making an endless amount of cotton candy and to Jeanie, Emily and Rose Peterson for providing the ponies and endless pony rides and the goats for the petting zoo. The town of Rangely graciously lets the library host the event in their courtyard.
The theme for the Summer Reading Program this year was “Make a Splash, Read!” for the younger kids and “Make Waves at Your Library.” There were 227 readers signed up. They teamed up to read an astonishing 3,210 books.
