Dear Editor:
This is an open letter to the voters of Rio Blanco County, the Town of Meeker Board of
Trustees is in support of the ballot issue to exempt Rio Blanco County from SB05-152.
We support the county commissioners’ position as this effort will ultimately bring reliable and affordable broadband services to Meeker, Rangely and Rio Blanco County.
Leveraging our local needs and desires to provide high-quality service at reasonable cost impacts all residents and our business community.
Becoming directly involved in this issue, rather than being dependent upon the Internet service providers to expand services to our region at their leisure is the only way to make such services come to fruition.
By approving an exemption from SB05-152, the county will be allowed to obtain grant funding and to move the broadband service infrastructure to implementation in our region.
