Dear Editor:
Rio Blanco County residents and taxpayers: You will soon receive your Tax Notice from the Rio Blanco County Treasurer. Upon receiving your Notice, many of you may have questions and concerns about why your taxes have increased or decreased. Please understand that the value of your property is only part of what makes up the amount of tax you pay. Last May you received a Notice of Valuation from the Assessor’s office showing your property value as of June 30, 2014. In December the County Board of Commissioners approved the mill levies for each taxing entity. The chart shows a comparison of mill levies for each taxing entity for years 2014 and 2015 and the difference. The location of your property determines which taxing entities your taxes pay into.
Your Tax Notice will list the entities you pay into. If you have questions about your Tax Notice, please contact the Rio Blanco County Treasurer’s office at 970-878-9660. If you have questions on the value of your property, please contact the Rio Blanco County Assessor’s office at 970-878-9410.
Sincerely,
Renae T. Neilson
Rio Blanco County Assessor
