Memorial Day…

Members of the local V.F.W. Post 5843 showed their respect by honoring fallen members of the military with a prayer, 21-gun salute, Tom Allen playing “Taps” after local World War II veteran Joe Sullivan tossed a wreath in the White River and placed another on the veteran’s memorial in Highland Cemetery. The local V.F.W. Post is currently raising money for a memorial to be placed on the courthouse lawn and donors of $2,500 or more are given a 14-inch marquette of the bronze statue. V.F.W. commander Tom Kilduff presented Randy Ridgeway and his family wife Twila, son D.J., Hillary, grandson Tanner, granddaughters Macy and Madison the first one. Ridgeway raised the statue and thanked the veterans saying, “Without your service, we would not be here, thank you,” Ridgeway’s sons and family who live in Pennsylvania are pictured on page 5A.
