Elmer Raymond (Ray) Gohl died June 20, 2011, at his home in Meeker, Colo.
Elmer was born on Jan. 1, 1926, to Gustav and Caroline (Muntz) Gohl in Cole Harbor, N.D. He had four brothers and five sisters. He spent his childhood and attended school in Garrison, N.D.
Elmer was a member of the United States Navy. He spent time living in Mullan, Idaho where most of his friends and family reside. Elmer worked in the Hard Rock Mines for many years.
He met and married Betty Jane Flood on Oct. 31, 1961, in Glendive, Mont., and had been married for 50 years. Elmer and Betty have lived in Meeker since July 2003.
Elmer enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, football, stamp and coin collecting, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.
Elmer is survived by his wife Betty Gohl of Meeker, Colo.; daughters Gaelynn (Bert) Barrow of Meeker, Camille Lackey, California; sons Paul (Cindy) Gohl of California, Joe (Karen) Gohl of Washington, Garner ‘Gig’ Gohl of California; grandchildren Tara LeAnn (Damon) Martinez, Jeanette Leigh Gohl, Shaelin Rae Barrow, Ean Page Barrow, Jason Ray Gohl, William Joseph Gohl, Gage Issac Gohl, Garrett Raymond Gohl; five great-grandchildren, Morganne Taylor Martinez, Quinton David Martinez, Pax Ezra Hyatt, Zen Robert Hanning, Aaliyah Rose Gohl; brothers Arnie (Alice) Gohl of Montana, Lenny Gohl of N.D.; sisters Alma Schriener of N.D., and Laura Dix of Montana.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sons Billy and Robert Gohl, brothers Fred and Albert, sisters Edna, Beverly and Ann.
Memorial services were held outside of Meeker up the White River with Pastor Johnny Arrington officiating.
