Irene Thronburg

Irene Thronburg, 91, of Rangely, Colorado died Friday, April 18, 2008, at Rangely District Hospital.
She was born July 5,1916, in Wisner, Neb., to Arnold and Ottelia (Paege) Melcher.
Irene started work on the F.W. Mockler ranch near Dubois, Wyo., in November 1937, cooking and babysitting for her former school teacher. Here, she met John Raymond Thronburg, and they were married on Sept. 24, 1938, in Lander, Wyo. They farmed for many years on Owl Creek west of Thermopolis before moving to town. She lived in Thermopolis until 2006, and then moved to Rangely, Colo., to live with her son Craig, and his wife, and then to Eagle Crest Assisted Living in Rangely.
Irene enjoyed gardening, playing the accordion, crocheting and Yahtzee.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2001; two sisters, Eloise Benson and Lenora Wascher; and two daughters Diana Thronburg and Elaine Schweighart.
Survivors include two sons; Doug (Ethel) Thronburg of Thermopolis, and Craig (Joann) Thronburg of Rangely; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Mortimore Funeral Home in Thermopolis on April 23, 2008. Inter-ment was made in the Monument Hill Cemet-ery. A memorial service will be held later in Rangely.
