Irma Jean Halverson, 84, died Dec. 24, 2008. Services were Saturday,Jan. 3 at the Heritage Funeral Home in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Interment followed the service at Hills of Rest Cemetery, Sioux Falls.
She was born Sept. 11, 1924, in Sioux Center, Iowa, to Mary (Bartels) and Edd Kosters.
Irma married Norman Halverson on June 3, 1944, living in Sioux Falls for more than 40 years. Irma moved to Iowa and for the past six years lived at the Carlisle Care
Center in Carlisle, Iowa. She was a member of the East Side Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls and the West Des Moines Christian Church. Irma was a kind and gentle woman who had an instant smile for everyone.
She will be missed by her children, Kathy (Don) Collier of Glade Park, Colo.; Dr. Linda Peterson of Sisseton, S.D.; and Lee (Susan Koons) Halverson of Des Moines, Iowa; five grandchildren, Cory and Rita Peterson, Gabe Halverson, Lee (Dawn) Collier and Lana (Kelly) Laxton; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Mary Ann (Bud) Ackerman of Beaver Creek, Minn., Grace Kroon of Sioux Falls, and Rod (Anna) Kosters of The Villages, Fla. Preceding her in death are her parents and daughter, Rita; brothers, Henry, Gerald, Allen and sister, Phyllis. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the West Des Moines Christian Church.
