MEEKER I Matt Pearce is finishing up his first year working on his doctorate degree in environmental history at the University of Oklahoma at Norman.
At the OU History Department’s annual banquet on April 24, Pearce was awarded the Donnell M. Owings Scholarship of $750, which goes to an outstanding graduate student in American History.
Pearce is a 2003 graduate of Meeker High School. He will remain in Norman this summer, where he is working as a research assistant with the OU History Department for the next three years. Pearce anticipates finishing his Ph.D. in the spring of 2013.
