RANGELY I The Rangely High School golf team did not have a tournament the first week of school, but the team was busy preparing for a new academic school year.
The schedule kept the players home until Monday of the second week, when the team traveled to Craig to participate in the Yampa Valley Invitational.
The layoff was not the best thing for the team as members were not as sharp as they were the previous week.
Harrison Hiel shot 109, Austin Ficken posted a 116, Caleb Noel had a 114 and Marshall Webber posted a 111.
“The kids came back a little more determined to hit more balls at the range and work on their short game,” head coach Mark Skelton said.
The Panthers traveled to Grand Junction on Tuesday, and participated in a match at Tiara Rado Golf Course.
Phil Arnold from Meeker will join the squad this week and play in his first high school meet.
Next week the team members have matches on Tuesday at Redlands Mesa and Thursday at home.
