28 youths participate in 2016 Denver Nuggets Skills Challenge

Twenty-eight area youths participated in the 2016 Denver Nuggets Skills Challenge on Jan. 23 in Meeker. Hosted by the ERBM Recreation & Park District, the event featured a basketball skills competition in dribbling, passing and shooting. Youth ages seven years to 14 competed for the chance to advance to the sectionals in Grand Junction on Feb. 21, and ages 5/6 competed for fun. Youth ages 7-14 competed for the chance to advance to the sectionals in Grand Junction on Feb. 21, and ages 5-6 competed for fun.

Boys in the 5-6 age group: second place: Dexter Chinn with 42.5 points; and first place: Ty Knight with 47.5 points
Boys in the 7-8 age group: third place: Said Valeriano with 120 points; second place: Finley Deming with 142.5 points; and first place: Trent Sanders with 175 points.
Girls in the 9-10 age group: third place: Bella Blazon with 110 points; second place: Natalie Knight with 127.5 points; and first place: Ellie Hossack with 222.5 points.
Boys in the 9-10 age group: third place: Jace Mobley with 210 points; second place: Clay Stewart Randall with 215 points; and first place: Ryan Sullivan with 320 points.
Boys in the 11-12 age group: third place: Dax Sheridan with 288.5 points; second place: Liam Deming with 305 points; and first place: Ryan Phelan with 432.5 points.
Boys in the 13-14 age group: third place: Elijah Deming with 275 points; second place: Lane Anderson with 361 points; first place: Cole Rogers with 495 points.
