MEEKER I The boys’ basketball team culminated its season April 18 at its annual banquet, hosted by the senior players’ parents.
MHS coaches Neil Joy and Matt Dupire handed out junior varsity participation certificates to 11 younger members of the team who did not compete at the varsity level. The program was then turned over to head Coach Klark Kindler who began his comments by thanking those people behind the scenes who made the season possible. Kindler then handed out varsity letters to Trey Morris, Trevor Matrisciano, Jake Nieslanik, Cole Steiner, Ryan Wix, Seth Boesch, Ever Olivas, Tyrel Gerloff, Brock Campbell, Dakota Rowlett, Colton Brown and Mitch Jacob. Also, the coaches handed out their specialty awards to the following:
Chairman of the Boards (most rebounds) — Colton Brown
Assists leader – Mitch Jacob
Field-goal percentage — Colton Brown -62 percent
Free-throw percentage — Dakota Rowlett – 72 percent
Most points — Mitch Jacob 17.3 points per game
Coaches awards — Seth Boesch, Jake Nieslanik, Ben Fitzgibbons.
All-conference awards went to Tyrel Gerloff, Dakota Rowlett, Colton Brown, and Mitch Jacob while Brock Campbell received an all-conference honorable mention. Additionally, Mitch Jacob received the Western Slope League Player of the Year and an honorable mention all-state. Jacob will play in the Coaches All-State game in Greeley in June.
“Overall we had a great season,” Kindler said. “We are graduating seven outstanding young men this year. However, a good thing is we have a great bunch coming back next year. We are looking forward to next year and being with this returning group.”
