Veterans reminded to claim stop-loss pay

RBC I Joe Dungan, veterans service officer for Rio Blanco County, reminds local veterans who are owed back pay that they should claim it.
Last year, Congress approved a $500 retroactive bonus to veterans for every month they were forced to stay in the military beyond their enlistment term — a practice known as stop-loss.
Troops kept involuntarily in the services from the September 2001 terrorist attacks until 2009 were given until a deadline of Oct. 21 to apply for the bonus money.
