• T. G. Leisenring of North Platte, Neb., is on his way to Meeker to open a drug store.
• Rube Oldland has taken his famous bull calf from Leonard’s ranch on Fourteen Mile Creek to its home on Piceance.
• “All That Glitters Is Not Gold” will be presented to the lovers of drama on Friday evening. The cast was selected with great care by Harry and Miss Maud Evans.

• Ethelyn Kincher has had another of her poems published in the Denver Post.
• Mr. Joe Sullivan spoke to a sixth-grade class about the operation of internal combustion engines.
• The Meeker Cowboys have made an impressive showing this year, winning 14 and only losing 2. Team members: Bill Jones, Gary Dunham, Fred Oglesby, Glenn Miller, Lonnie Shults, Earl Eliasen, Lewis Anderson, Mike Martin and Jim Lancaster.
• Bobby J. Peters of Williams Fork holds the national record for shooting 104 bobcats in areas near Craig in the month of January.
• After an undefeated regular season, Ray McKee lost his first match in the state tourney last weekend.

• Celebrating their first birthdays: Matthew Christensen of Meeker, Howard Joseph Ridings of Meeker, and Morgan Nieslanik of Palisade.
• Legislative snowmobile tour attracts 150 enthusiasts.
• Sheila and Frank Stewart are the parents of a daughter, Kathryn Ann, born Thursday, Feb. 27.
• Linn Pettijohn of the Forest Service, hereafter known as King of the Porta-potties, was presented with a special award at the chili supper Saturday. He was honored with a plaque specially designed to recognize his odoriferous and meritorious service.

Rangely Times — 45 years ago
• Mr. and Mrs. James Talmadge announced the sale of their Dairy King property to Keith Brady.
• The Rangely Panthers open the district basketball tournament at Glenwood Springs tonight against Meeker. Team members: Derry Banta, Brent Hardy, Russell Sullivan, Budge Spetter, Larry Gierhart, Glenn Urquhart, Gary Noel, Pete Miller, Junior Matrisciano, manager Gary Hejl, and Gary Chism. Coaches Bill McDaniel and Bob Plant.
• Miss Wynona Gay Stark and J’Dean Redding were married at her grandparents’ home on Sunday, Feb. 20. The Rev. Eddie Scroggins officiated.
Rangely Times — 35 years ago
• Rangely coach Greg Lasley was hoisted high by the Panthers after the stunning victory over Craig Saturday at the Northwest League Tourney. Alan Ducey (20) said, “We’re No. 1!”
• Miss Teresa Clugston and Tommy C. Breshears Jr. exchanged wedding vows Feb. 15 at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church. The Rev. MacDavid Fields officiated.
• At Bestway: Maid O’Clover Milk, 71 cents/half gallon; 10 oz. Box Kellogg’s Rice Krispies, 65 cents; Utah Delicious Apples, 12 cents/lb.

Rangely Times — 25 years ago
• Trustee Grant Peel saw the mud on the streets as the result of employment and activity and that “the minute you have no mud, you had better watch out.”
• James Delbert Moon, an employee of Ducey Electric of Rangely, and his wife, Susan, drowned in the Green River on Feb. 9 while fishing.
• Phil and Edna Smith have purchased the Rangely Exchange from Bob and Denise Staley and will be moving their floral shop, The Flowersmith, to the Rangely Exchange building.
