Types of calls becoming more serious in nature
RBC — The number of incidents for February 2008 increased 18.77 percent year to date, according to a report released from the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office.
The total number of incidents through the communications center rose from 733 in February 2007, to 821 in February 2008. The number of calls for service for the sheriff’s office increased from 223 in February 2007, to 241 in February 2008, with traffic stops also increasing from 286 in February 2007, to 321 in February 2008.
The Meeker Police Department showed a slight decrease in the number of calls for service with 142 calls in February 2007, down slightly to 140 in February 2008.
The Meeker P.D. had a significant increase in the number of traffic stops, up from 46 in February 2007, to 85 in February 2008.
While the number of incidents continues to increase, the types of calls are becoming more serious in nature.
In February 2008, the total numbers of the most noteworthy types of incidents for both the sheriff’s office and the Meeker P.D. are as follows: 406 traffic stops; 30 incidents assisting the Colorado State Patrol; 25 accidents with property damage; 22 traffic complaints; 22 warrant arrests; 17 traffic arrests; 10 suspicious incidents; nine disturbances; six thefts; four hit and run accidents; three DUIs; three narcotics cases; two criminal mischief cases; two search and rescues; one injury accident; one auto theft; one assault; one fraud case and one sexual assault.
The Rio Blanco County Detention Center had an average daily inmate population of 16.55 inmates in February 2008, of those 14.41 were male inmates and 2.14 were female inmates.
A total of 87 people were booked into the detention center, with 72 jailed in the facility and 15 people who were booked and released. The detention center also served 1,273 meals during February 2008.
