Free mental health certification conference

MEEKER | The Community Evaluation Team (CET) of Meeker is offering a free conference for Rio Blanco County residents interested in becoming certified in mental health first aid. The conference, scheduled for Feb. 16-17, 2012, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, will be presented by Kathy Davis of Colorado West Mental Health. The mental health first aid program is an interactive 12-hour course to provide skills around mental health literacy. This program helps individuals in the community better understand common mental health issues by introducing participants to the risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems, building understanding of their impact, providing skills for emergency situations with an overview of common treatments. This class is free and open to anyone.
