Meeker hoopsters take 1st

MEEKER I Six Meeker youths competed in the 2011-2012 Elks Hoop Shoot held in Rifle on Jan. 8. Sierra Gomez, 9, placed third in the 8-9 girls’ division. Krissie Luce, 11, placed third in the 10-11 girls’ division. Halle Ahrens, 12, hit 12 for 25 to place first, and Amanda Scherbarth, 12, placed second, in the 12-13 girls’ division. Cole Rogers, 9, secured first in the 8-9 boys’ division by making 18 of 25. Chris Scherbarth, 10, made 20 of 25 to lock up first in the boys’ 10-11 division. Halle, Cole and Chris will now compete at the district level on Jan. 22, also in Rifle.
