Junior golfers…

Three junior golfers carry their bags on the fifth fairway of the Meeker Golf Course to their next shot last Monday during the junior golf tourament.
MEEKER I Thirty-four junior golfers played in the annual Meeker Junior Golf tournament, sponsored by the ERBM Recreation and Park District held Monday last at the Meeker Golf Course, featuring golfers from Meeker, Rangely, Craig, Rifle and Glenwood Springs.
Rangely’s Marshall Way shot an 82 to win the 15-16 division, giving Meeker’s Jeremy Musgrave second and Ty Shepherd third in the oldest division. Nick Burri was one shot better than Linc Kleager of Hayden and Peyton Jacobson of Craig, who both shot 89 to tie for the second best gross score in the 13-14 age division.
Jacob Smith, who has ties to Rifle, shot a one over par 35 after nine holes, to win the 10-12 age division by more than 10 strokes, Holden Kleager finished second and Meeker’s Logan Hughes third. Elly Walters had the best score in the girls’ division of the same age group, Maci Smith was second and there was a tie for third between Barbara Jex and Marsol Vendegna.
Aubrey Slaugh finished first in the 7-9 age group and Stacey Mack was second after playing five holes. In the boys division, Braydan Garcia needed the least number of shots to win, giving Trinden Powell second and Dennis Koenig third.
George and Peggy Back’s granddaughter Sineca Saucedo won the gold medal as the only girl golfer in the six and under but still tied Cade Blunt, who beat his cousin Teagan Sheridan after three holes.
