Letters to the Editor: Sept. 27, 2012

Many thanks
Dear Editor:
We would like to express a heartfelt thank you to all people involved in the quick response to our daughter’s automobile accident last Sunday afternoon. We feel very blessed to have such caring and thoughtful members of our community.
Thank you to all emergency personnel for the prompt and excellent care she received in both the transport and at Pioneers Medical Center. Thank you for all the cards, flowers, personal visits and prayers she has received. We would like to say a special thank you to Steve Parr, Tom Allen and Joan Overton, who were passing by, for the emotional support and aid in the quick response time of emergency personnel. There truly are angels living here on earth. We thank the dear Lord that three of them, as well as all the unknown others who stopped to help. With all our love and God bless.

Rangely ice cream social a success
Dear Editor:
The Rangely Museum’s Ice Cream Social and Homemade Ice Cream Contest again was a great success. Each year we see greater participation and visitation to this event. We had five entries for the homemade ice cream contest. Our winners were: first, Phalon Osborn with Lemon Cheese Cake received a check for $125; second, Don Peach with Addy’s Lemon and Orange received a check for $75; third, Pauline Miller with Peanut Butter with Chocolate received a check for $50.
I can tell you that our three wonderful judges, who will remain nameless, had a hard time and said that the entries were all wonderful. We want to thank all of our contestants for participating. Good luck next year. Thank you to our judges for helping make this contest special. We want to send a big thank you to Bud and Teri at W.C. Striegel for their continued support of this contest by donating the $250 in prize money. Without ice cream we wouldn’t have a social so a big thank you to Bill Hume for the donation of all the ice cream and the ice.
For any event, advertising is crucial. Thank you to the Lodging Tax Panel for their continued support of the funds needed to get the word out for this event. Also, thank you to the Herald Times for making sure this event was well advertised.
Dan Fiscus and his boys made this social a lot of fun by entertaining us with their music. He also helps out with announcements and thank yous.
The help and support of volunteers, board members and staff, help make this annual event a success. They are Gail Palmer, Tom and Dorothy Collins, Cheryl and Dave Robertson, Loyann Hayes, Gordon Byers, Susan Dempsey and Diane Sizemore.
Our new 2013 calendars are now on sale here at the museum. Be sure to get yours before we close for the season.
Our fall hours are Fridays and Saturdays from 10 to 4, and Sundays from noon to 4; through Oct. 14 when we will close for the season. Be sure to come and check out our new displays; the local artists’ wall which will be on display till the end of the month, the black light rock display and the Burma Shave signs.
