Triple crown…

Meeker’s Cole Rogers and Jake Shelton are pictured with the championship trophy the two helped their team win Saturday in a Triple Crown tournament in Longmont. The two Meeker fifth graders play on a team called the Knights, coached by former MHS graduate Kyle Whitaker and composed of players from New Castle, Rifle and Meeker. This was the first tournament played by the traveling team, on which Rogers pitches and plays right field and Shelton plays third base and center field.
Meeker also has several girls playing softball for the Strikers from New Castle. Meeker’s Tori Lasker, Gracie Bradfield, Savana May, Michaela Jones and Megan Shelton play on the Strikers team, which is currently 9-1.
