Letter: Gratitude for assembly support

Dear Editor:

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the delegates, alternates, Republican Committee members, and attendees that attended and participated at the 2022 Rio Blanco County Republican Assembly. I would especially like to acknowledge the hard work and commitment of the Rio Blanco County Republican Central Committee to ensure the event was well organized, informative, and engaging.

The overwhelming show of support by party delegates as well as alternates was greatly appreciated. It was a great day to be in attendance with so many like-minded patriots. The process we use to choose and elect our representatives is important and I appreciate everyone taking the time out of their busy schedules to help choose the people that will be on the ballot for the Republican Primary Election slated for June 28, 2022. I was humbled by the vast amount of support and warm words of encouragement as I advance forward in the political process to be elected the next Sheriff of Rio Blanco County.

I would like to apologize in advance to everyone. During the next two weeks I will have limited ability to make phone calls or answer emails because of family and professional commitments.

At the end of this week, I will be flying to Ft. Benning, Georgia to attend my son’s graduation from US Army Airborne School. Anthony “AJ” is the next generation of my family to attend Army Airborne training and move on to serve in a US Army Airborne unit. I served two years in the 35th Signal Battalion (ABN) at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. I also had two great uncles that served in the 101st and the 82nd Airborne Divisions respectively during WW2 and jumped into France on D-Day. I will be pinning my airborne wings on my son, and it goes without saying that I could not be prouder. After graduation “AJ” will be assigned to an airborne unit at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. My son will be the fifth generation to serve in the US military dating back to WW1 and carries on a proud family tradition of service to our nation.

The following week I will be attending an FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development training course. The goal of the course is to advance the science and art of law enforcement leadership and promote the exchange of information to improve law enforcement management practices through training, education, and networking among police professionals across the United States. Like all great training opportunities, this course is sure to be informative as well as challenging.

Continuing education is important at every level of law enforcement. Continuing education creates a better, well rounded law enforcement officer who can think critically, problem solve, and has a wider perspective to address issues that may arise within our community which makes us all safer.

I assure you that during this period away I will devote as much time and effort as possible to answer questions and respond to emails.

Thank you again for everyone’s continued support and understanding.

Sincerely,

Rich Garner

Candidate for Rio Blanco County Sheriff
