MEEKER I Meeker Cowboy track took to the Demon Invitational Saturday in Glenwood, with pole vaulting the previous evening.
“We had some weather this week, and a JV track meet, so we didn’t get a full week of practice, and we leveled out this week,” commented co-head coach Hallie Blunt.
“At the JV track meet our kids did really well, they were able to get some time in events they hadn’t run yet, and we got some kids some time on the track,” said Blunt.
Results from the Demon Invitational for those placing in the top three:
• Pole Vault, Aspen Merrifield, second
• Kelton Turner, second
• 4×200 Meter Relay, Girls Meeker A, second
• Shot Put, Zach Eskelson, third
• 4×100 Meter Relay, Girls Meeker A, second
• Discus, Hailey Knowles, second
“Our MVP’s for the week are once again our throwers, but this time the girls discus, both of the girls had PR’s and Shyana Kurth nearly threw 80 feet,” said Blunt.
The team is busy this week beginning with pole vault in West Grand Tuesday, Owen Hanneman took 4th and jumped 10 feet 9 inches and Merrifield cleared 8’3”, Reese Clatterbaugh had PR at 7’3”.
“There were 38 boys and 38 girls at this event, it was fun and our kids did well,” said Blunt.
The rest of this week there was a JV meet Wednesday in Rifle, varsity on Friday will be in Coal Ridge, and the entire team will travel to Rangely Saturday for another meet.
