MEEKER I Cowboy track had a dual successful weekend, qualifying a few more kids for state. The boys took second at the Cardinal Open and the girls took third.
“We were so excited to get both of our 4×200 meter relay teams qualified in Parachute,” commented head coach Hallie Blunt. “We were also able to get Reese Clatterbaugh qualified in the triple jump with her jump of 30 feet 9.75.”
Results for those in the top three from the Cardinal Open: Sarah Kracht took first in the 200 meter dash, Brighton Bair took first in the 1600 meter run, Jayden Overton took third in the 100 meter hurdles and her time of 17.98 seconds qualified her for state, Aspen Merrifield took first in pole vault, and Hailey Knowles took first in discus. For the boys, the relay teams all placed in the top three, Casey Brink took first in Pole Vault while Owen Hanneman and Connor Blunt tied for second, and in shot put Zagar Brown took first with a throw of 43 feet 11.75 inches that qualified him for state, Zach Eskelson took second, Judd Harvey took third, and it was a sweep as Kelton Turner took fourth.
Here are the state qualifiers and schedule of events for which they will be competing in. This list is not all-inclusive of everything that will be happening at state track.
Thursday
2:00 p.m.–Boys shot put prelims featuring Brown and Eskelson.
2:10 p.m.–Girls 800 sprint medley relay of Kracht, Merrifield, Jayde Turner and Ellie Hossack; the team qualified with a time of one minute, 0.46 seconds.
2:45 p.m.–Turner will run the 100 meter dash in heat three of three; he qualified with a time of 11.41 seconds and is third in the state.
3:40 p.m.–Girls 4×200 meter relay of Ellie, Addie Selle, Merrifield, and Kracht; they qualified with a time of one minute, 52.92 seconds.
3:50 p.m.–Mens 4×200 meter relay of Porter Hossack, Eskelson, Brendan Clatterbaugh, and Zach Simonsen will be in heat two of two; they qualified with a time of one minute, 36.13 seconds.
3:55 p.m.–Girls 4×400 meter relay of Addie, Ainsley Selle, Merrifield, and Turner, who qualified with a time of four minutes, 28.49 seconds.
4:05 p.m.–Overton will run the 100 meter hurdles prelims in heat one of two.
5:00 p.m.–Girls 4×800 meter relay of Nora Gianinetti, Brighton Bair, Taylor Garcia, and Ellie who qualified with a time of 11 minutes, 12.70 seconds. These are finals.
Friday
8:30 a.m.–Boys pole vault featuring Turner, Owen Hanneman, and Casey Brink–this is prelims and finals.
9:15 a.m.–Girls 4×100 meter relay of Ellie, Ainsley, Merrifield, and Kracht, prelims.
9:32 a.m.–Men’s 4×100 meter relay prelims of Hossack, Connor Blunt, Eskelson, and Turner will be in heat one of two and qualified with a time of 44.80 seconds, which is second in the state.
12:00 p.m.–Girls medley relay finals
12:30 p.m.–Boys shot put finals
1:40 p.m.–4×200 meter relay finals for girls
1:45 p.m.–4×200 meter relay finals for boys
11 a.m.–Girls pole vault with Merrifield, who is fourth in the state and vaulted at a height of nine feet, one inch. This is prelims and finals.
Saturday – All events on Saturday are finals
9:30 a.m.–100 meter hurdle finals for girls
10:40 a.m.–100 meter dash finals for boys12:50 p.m.–Bair will run the 1600; she is tenth in the state.
2:00 p.m.–Reese Clatterbaugh will compete in the triple jump; she qualified with a jump of 31 feet, 6.5 inches.
3:15 p.m.–4×100 relay finals for girl
3:20 p.m.–4×100 relay finals for boys
4:40 p.m.–4×400 relay finals for girls
The Colorado High School State Track Meet will be held at Jeffco Stadium in Lakewood, Colorado
