For its fourth annual River Clean-Up, White River Alliance members met on Saturday, June 18, at the Lake Avery spillway to make their way down the river to Circle Park cleaning up trash at the many public access points.
The good news is there appeared to be less trash this year, the bad news was the invasive weed Leafy Spurge is taking over the Lake Avery area and spreading exponentially along the river.
The spillway remains a popular place for fishing and the Alliance is planning an opportunity soon to learn more about plans for improving and repairing the spillway and potential plans for a possible Lake Avery expansion.
