RIO HAPPENINGS: sept. 12 – 18, 2022

There were no arrests for the week of Sept. 12-18.

CALL SUMMARIES

9/13/2022 @ 7:07 a.m. A search and rescue was initiated for an overdue Sheepherder. The missing party was last seen at 7:00 am the day before. The Sheepherder was found at 12:53 pm on Tuesday, approximately 15 miles from his original location on Ripple Creek Pass. He was found safe and uninjured.

  • 9/13/2022 Two separate wildland fires were reported. The first one being near the intersection of County Road 131 & County Road 122. A tree was smoldering although the wind was a factor. Rangely Fire Dept and BLM Fire were able to get the fire out. The second fire was reported at the 3-mile marker on County Road 26 as smoke was seen in this area. BLM was given the information and were unable to locate the smoke.
  • 9/14/2022 @ 9:28 a.m. A motor vehicle crash was reported at 1st and Market St. There were no injuries, one driver was issued a citation.
  • 9/14/2022 @ 11:26 a.m. One vehicle injury accident reported on County Road 8 near the 4 mile-marker. All 3 occupants were transported to the hospital.
  • 9/14/2022 @ 12:50 p.m. A backcountry rescue was initiated for a hunter having a medical issue near Lost Solar. Ultimately the National Guard was requested to assist as the hike into the patient would have been approximately 6 hours. The National Guard launched their helicopter and hoist team and were able to rescue the patient and transport him to the hospital.
  • 9/15/2022 @ 5:05 p.m. Report of a large rock in the roadway at mile marker 13 on County Road 8 (also known as Indian Head Corner.) Road and Bridge responded to remove the hazard.
  • 9/16/2022 @ 5:37 p.m. Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office assisted Rangely PD with an ATV crash that caused injuries to the one occupant.
  • 9/17/2022 @ 2:29 p.m. Rio Blanco County Communications received a call regarding a dog that needed rescued off of a steep hill near the Meadow Lake turnoff. A Wildlife Parks and Service officer was able to get the dog down and returned to its’ owners.
  • 9/18/2022 @ 12:27 p.m. A trespass on County Road 14 was reported to the Sheriff’s Office. A deputy responded and was unable to locate the trespasser.
  • 9/18/2022 @ 7:53. A dirt bike was reported stolen from an address in the Town limits of Meeker. There was no suspect information at the time of the report.
