Art gallery and drinks Oct. 27

MEEKER | Enjoy drinks, snacks and local photography at an art gallery this Thursday, Oct. 27 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Trailhead Lounge, 173 First Street, Meeker. Photographers are Kelly Osborn of Big Sage Photos and Kaysyn Davis of Kaysyn Krystal Photography, along with jewelry, scarves and mason jar mugs from maker Christy Parrott of Cedar Trail Creations.

Halloween party at Smoking River Oct. 29

MEEKER | Smoking River Brewing Co is always brewing up something! Join us at our second annual Halloween Party Saturday, Oct. 29 for costume contests, prizes, food and BREW! Bring the kids while you sip and they can paint pumpkins from 12 to 5 p.m. When day turns to night come out with your costume and have some fun! Chuckwagon Grille will be in the house!

Historical society quarterly meeting

RBC | Attend the the Rio Blanco County Historical Society’s quarterly meeting at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30 at the Heritage Culture Center on 5th and Park, followed by a showing of the original 1931 movie classic “Frankenstein.” Popcorn provided, snacks and goodies to share encouraged. Candy donations needed

MEEKER | The Walbridge Wing is seeking candy donations for Halloween trick-or-treaters. Wing residents will be handing out candy from 5:30-7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31. 

Free parenting classes

MEEKER | Positive Solutions for Families is an evidence-based workshop of seven sessions aimed for parents and guardians with children from 1- to 8-years-old. During this workshop, we discuss a wide range of positive approaches that support children’s self-regulation, independence, cooperation, and problem-solving skills. Sponsored by Connections4Kids, local preschool teacher Becky Brennan Bauer will lead sessions at Meeker Elementary School on Tuesdays from 5:30-7:30 p.m. beginning Nov. 1, 2022. Wild horse adoption

RBC | There will be a Piceance East Douglas Herd Management Area wild horse adoption event on Nov. 4-5, 2022, at Rimrock Adventures in Fruita, Colorado, at 927 Hwy. 340. Public viewing begins on Friday from 12-6 p.m. and Saturday from 7:30-10 a.m. Silent bidding from 10-10:30 a.m. Horse clinics, wild horse demonstrations, food truck, vendor booths and “lots of horse people.” TIP trainers welcome. Library book club

MEEKER | The book club will be reading “Remarkably Bright Creatures” by Shelby Van Pelt. We will discuss the book on Monday, Nov. 14 at 1 p.m. All are welcome to join in the fun.
