Rio Happenings: June 11-17, 2023

ARRESTS

A 35 year old female was arrested on 6/15/2023 for motor vehicle theft. She was transported to Moffat County Detentions and received a PR bond. 

CALL SUMMARIES

6/11/2023 @ 6:53 am. Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office assisted Rangely Fire and EMS on a one vehicle rollover accident at the 2 mile-marker on Highway 64.  Two occupants were injured and taken to the hospital.

6/11/2023 @ 3:17 pm. A smoke report came into the Communications Center in the area of the 25 mile-marker County Road 8. A deputy and volunteers with Meeker Volunteer Fire Dept. responded and were unable to locate the reported smoke.

6/11/2023 @ 8:57 pm. A wildland fire was reported in the area of BLM Rd. 1711. A deputy responded to check the area and was unable to locate any fires. BLM Fire was also notified.

6/13/2023 @ 1:06 pm. The mormon cricket migration caused some grief for motorcycle riders on Highway 64 as they crashed after driving across the insects after a recent rain, which made the highway slick. Nobody was injured as a result.

6/13/2023 @ 11:38 am. A dog owner was issued a citation after someone witnessed their dog chasing a child on a bicycle in the town limits of Meeker.

6/14/2023 @ 11:17 pm. Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office assisted Rangely PD with a report of a domestic in Rangely town limits.

6/14/2023 @ 6:34 pm. A child accidentally called 911 while checking on their chickens at a residence in the Town of Meeker.

6/15/2023 @ 2:40 pm. A vehicle was reported stolen from a ranch on Piceance Creek. The vehicle was located in Rifle and stopped by Rifle PD. The driver was arrested and transferred to a deputy with Rio Blanco County and taken to Moffat County Jail.

6/17/2023 @ 8:47 pm. A disturbance ensued at Lake Avery over juveniles riding dirt bikes in the area. Upon the deputies investigation and talking with the parties involved, the situation was resolved.
