RIO HAPPENINGS: November 5-11, 2023

ARRESTS

A 48 year-old male was arrested on 11/10/2023 for driving a vehicle when license revoked as a habitual traffic offender (aggravated) and operated an uninsured motor vehicle on a public roadway. A PR bond was granted on 11/11/2023.

CALL SUMMARIES

11/6/2023 @ 2:49 am. A car vs deer at approximately the 35 mile-marker on Highway 64. The driver had minor injures but did not need medical.  The deer was deceased. 

11/6/2023 @ 4:01 am. While on patrol a deputy witnessed a deer run into the side of a vehicle near the 58 mile-marker on Highway 64. The deer had to be dispatched and the vehicle escaped with minor damage.

 11/7/2023 @ 12:25 am. A fire broke out in an apartment complex in the town limits of Rangely. Rio Blanco County Sheriff assisted with evacuating the premises. 

11/8/2023 @ 3:17 pm. A one vehicle rollover accident at the 41 mile-marker HIghway 139 resulted in minor injuries to the single occupant. 

11/8/2023 @ 3:30 pm. A traffic complaint was called into the Communications Center regarding a van that was swerving in and out of traffic and crossing the double line starting at the 71 mile-marker on Highway 64. A deputy was able to pull the van over and the driver was given a warning for speed and failure to maintain lane. The driver told the deputy he was trying to “time warp” to Rangley as he was running late. 

11/9/2023 @   A found wallet that included a mini spoon was turned into a Sheriff Deputy. The owner was located and was given back the wallet minus the mini spoon that was used for “dieting” 

11/10/2023 @ 7:33 pm. The Sheriff’s Office assisted Rangely PD when they had an uncooperative subject. The subject was taken into custody. 

11/11/2023 @ 1:32 pm. A one vehicle rollover occured at the 45 mile-marker on Highway 139. The driver was injured and transported to the hospital. 

11/11/2023 @ 3:55 pm. A fatal car accident was reported near the 34 mile-marker on Highway 139. A single vehicle crash with a single occupant went off the road. This occured in Garfield County however Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist.
