Hello dear readers!
I hope you haven’t gotten whatever germ is going around, but if you have, I’m raising my 47th mug of tea to your restored health, and mine. I have been sick with this bug for what feels like forever. Even so, there’s no days off in community newspaper-ing, so we’ve got a paper, same as always! The podcast will be delayed until I get my voice back, though.

- The Colorado Avalanche Information Center has issued a special avalanche advisory through Monday, Jan. 15 as additional snow and winds through the holiday weekend increase the avalanche danger statewide. Some areas will see extreme danger. Backcountry recreation seekers are encouraged to adjust weekend plans accordingly and check the forecast.
- The Nick Theos Family Ranches conservation easement becomes the third largest Colorado Cattlemen’s Agricultural Land Trust easement in RBC.
- The Four Leaf Clovers 4-H group collected donations for the animal shelter during this year’s Parade of Lights.

- From this week’s Rio Happenings: 1/1/2024 @ 11:50 am. A homeowner in the town limits of Meeker believed that his front window had been shot through. The incident occurred 2 nights prior to the caller reporting it. Possible suspect information was provided to the officers.
- After deadline: tomorrow’s Family Ice Fishing Day was canceled by ERBM due to severe weather. Instead, Colorado Parks & Wildlife and the Meeker Lions Club will offer free fishing and free lunch at Lake Avery next Sunday, January 21, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
