Feb. 23, 2007 ~ June 17, 2024
Xochi AnaNickole Holland-Gonzalez blessed us with her presence on February 23, 2007, in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, via Meeker, Colorado, and she left us, far too soon, on June 17, 2024, in Pinedale, Wyoming.
Xochi was the baby of the family and the only daughter, proud of her Mexican and Greek heritage, and nothing short of a rare gem.
Her interests and hobbies were primarily influenced by her older brothers; whatever they were doing, she wanted to do. Following in their footsteps, she started playing hockey at the age of five and played every year, often on multiple teams, until she was 16. This past winter, she took a season off of hockey to focus on snowboarding; more often than not, accompanied by her brother Jesus. She also enjoyed art and practicing her tattooing skills, shadowing her brother Marco. The three of them shared a love for comic books, music, movies, and deep conversation.
In the summers, Xochi spent a lot of time outdoors, camping, fishing, parking out under the stars, sitting around a bonfire, and swimming in the frigid water of Fremont Lake; from the time the ice melted until fall set in, you could often find her jumping off the boat docks or swimming at sandy beach.
But above all, her biggest passion was the love she shared with her family and friends.
Xochi is survived by her mother Antoinette “Mama Toni” Holland (Juan O.), her father Cesar Ivan Gandara-Gonzalez; the best big brothers: Marco Antonio “Anthony” Holland-Gonzalez and Jesus ”Chuey” Manuel Holland-Gonzalez; step-sisters Marlen Olivas and Alondra Olivas (Bruno P.) and their two children; aunt Naomi Etchart (Marc) and cousins Owen and Miles; uncle Jesus Adolfo Gonzalez; grandma Efstathea Jane Holland; great uncles George Kritsas and Nick Kritsas; and her beloved friend group (which spanned multiples states, including Wyoming, Colorado, Arkansas and Utah), her boyfriend Edwin; her extended family and non-biological brothers; her hockey family; and the hundreds of people whose lives she touched with her radiant personality, infectious laugh and her unforgettable smile.
Xochi was a spitfire, who unapologetically lived her life to the fullest. Her absence will leave a hole in the hearts of all who knew her.
Services for Xochi were held Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the Sublette County Ice Arena in Pinedale, Wyoming.
A memorial fund has been established for the placement of a memorial bench at the town skate park where Xochi spent plenty-a-summer in her younger years and where many of her life-long friendships were cultivated; as well as to fund a scholarship for students of Skyline Academy who plan to pursue a career in respiratory therapy. Donations can be made to the Xochi Memorial Fund at 1st Bank in Pinedale, Wyoming.
