Rio Blanco County Senior 4-H Members Liam Olson and Jill Ward attended the Colorado State 4-H Conference in Fort Collins June 18-20. The RBC 4-H members stayed on the CSU campus and attended workshops. Workshop tracks covered the topics of leadership, STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and family consumer science. Highlights included culturing soil samples in the CSU microbiology lab, an inside look at police dog work, and hands-on landscaping experience. Both members participated in the statewide prepared public speaking contest and, in addition, Ward competed in the statewide impromptu public speaking contest. Both members made a good showing and represented Rio Blanco County well. Olson was elected 4-H District 9 President during the 4-H District Retreat in April. Olson will serve on the State 4-H Senate representing our district as part of his presidential duties. He was inducted into his state office at the State Senate meeting June 20.
