Thanks to Westlands from MHS
Dear Editor:
Meeker High School Athletics would like to thank Patrick Krause and Westlands for donating $12,000 to our athletic programs. All extracurricular programs are increasingly expensive to fund. Yet, we believe that these programs offer students opportunities to learn and grow outside of the classroom. This generous donation will be split evenly between all of the MHS athletic programs. It will be used to fund equipment and travel for our student athletes. Thank you for supporting MHS Athletics!
Sincerely,
Amy Chinn
MHS Principal
Thanks from Scritchfield to voters
Dear Editor:
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who voted in the Rio Blanco County (RBC) Republican Primary. RBC had a 43% turnout for the primary, compared to the state’s 25% turnout of registered voters. I appreciate all of you who exercised your freedom, right, and responsibility to participate in this crucial part of the election process. Please continue your participation and vote again in November.
I am honored to be the voters’ choice for the Republican party candidate for RBC, District 3. I extend my gratitude to all who supported my candidacy in various ways. I look forward to working diligently for every Rio Blanco County citizen and protecting our rural values in the upcoming four-year term.
With numerous challenges facing rural Colorado, it is essential that we all work together to defend our County and way of life. While addressing current and unforeseen issues, I will help the county develop a strong vision for what we want to look like 30-50 years from now. This will require many conversations and collaboration from our citizens. I am committed to facilitating and developing that vision for the county and then working with everyone to implement it.
Some of the major issues facing RBC include ongoing attacks on energy production, water, agriculture, and wildlife management. As I wind down my tenure with the White River and Douglas Creek Conservation Districts this summer, I will continue to engage in various groups and organizations’ meetings on these natural resource issues to be as prepared as possible to serve as your commissioner beginning in January.
I will attend the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission meeting in Meeker on July 18th and 19th to network with the CPW Commissioners and discuss the impacts of their policy decisions on our economy and way of life. I encourage each of you to also attend the meeting.
The Yampa, White, Green Basin Roundtable meetings will keep me connected on local, state, and Colorado River water issues. Club 20 Summer Policy Committees, focused on Federal Land and Natural Resources, Water, Agriculture, and Energy, will discuss many ongoing concerns. By participating in these discussions and learning additional information at these meetings, I will stay up-to-date and be as effective as possible as I become your County Commissioner.
Thank you to all the RBC citizens for making this such a great County. I am committed to supporting and protecting our rural values, way of life, and economy to the very best of my ability. I look forward to working with all of you.
Callie Scritchfield
RBC Commissioner
Candidate Dist. 3
