RIO HAPPENINGS: June 23-29, 2024

ARRESTS

6/24 56 yr old male arrested on 2nd degree burglary and crimes against at risk adult/ juvenile-3rd degree assault. He was released on a PR Bond 6/25.

6/29 37 yr old male arrested for DUI, drug paraphernalia, open container, possession of open marijuana container and driving on expired license.

CALL SUMMARIES

6/24/2024 @ 09:17 Atmos Energy advised of a possible gas leak at the Bank of the San Juans. The bank was evacuated but no leaks of natural gas was found.

6/24/2024 @ 10:39 Rio Blanco County deputies dispatched for a disturbance on County Road 2. A male party was arrested for assault and burglary and booked into jail.

6/25/2024 Rio Blanco County experienced mud season all over again. Multiple county roads and Highway 64 ended up muddy and rocky throughout the several days with all the rain.

6/26/2024 @ 13:39 The smell of smoke puts everyone on edge. At least this time it was just trash burning on Water Street. However, per municipal orders, there’s no burning trash in city limits.

6/28/2024 @ 16:57 Traffic Hazard @ CR 8 and 57. Even though it was reported that there was roughly 7 to 10 inches of mud in the west bound lane, it was not impeding travel. Road and Bridge arrived and cleared the roadway.

6/29/2024 @ 20:23 A trespass call came in near the mile marker 31 on County Road 8 involving a male suspect. While deputies were en route to the trespass, a traffic complaint came from mile marker 26 on County Road 8, matching the same male suspect from the trespass. Male suspect was seen near mile marker 16 on County Road 8 where deputies were able to contact him. A roadside was conducted along with a search of the vehicle. He was taken into custody.
