Meeker Public Library book club Aug. 12

MEEKER | The Meeker Public Library book club is reading “Just A Regular Boy” by Catherine Ryan Hyde. We will meet to discuss the book at the Meeker Public Library on Monday, Aug. 12, at 1 p.m.  Extra copies are available for check out at the library if you would like to join in the fun. New members are always welcome!

Get your 2024 County Fair Book!

RBC | The much-anticipated 2024 County Fair Book is available at: Rangely Conoco, Rangely True Value Hardware, Rangely Bank of the San Juans, the Rangely Chamber of Commerce, Nichol’s Market, White River Market, Meeker General Mercantile, GoFer (Meeker), White River Convenience, Meeker Bank of the San Juans, and Mountain Valley Bank along with both CSU Extension office sites in the County. Entry tags for Open Indoor exhibits are ready for you at the Meeker Extension office site and will be available at the Rangely Extension office site as needed. Entries are accepted through July 31. This year, the fair is dedicated to Dr. Paul and Renae Neilson, and special observance is presented to 48-year Fair Board member Ed Coryell. These three individuals have countless days leading to years of numerous County Fair successes, and are on the short list of “so much appreciated.” Help us celebrate these individuals and Rio Blanco County.

Register by July 26 for the RBC Pioneers Dinner/Dance

MEEKER | Rio Blanco County Pioneers Association 2024 Dinner and Dance are set for Saturday, Aug. 10 at the 4-H Building. Please register by July 26 so our caterers — Cowboy and the Rose — will have an attendance count to provide a delicious dinner. You may register online through Eventbrite at https://rbcpioneers.org. If you wish to register and then pay at the door, you may contact Co-Presidents Solveig Olson and Darold Nay 970-878-5836; cell 970-756-4680; email [email protected]. Registration forms are also available on the website to download and print to mail to RBCPA at PO Box 1113, Meeker CO 81641, or you may pick up and turn in a form at the White River Museum at 565 Park Ave., or at Ashleigh Christies at 594 Main St. The dance with music provided by DJ J.J. Jiminez promises great selections by request and may be attended separately for $10 for those not wishing to participate in the dinner. Please register in advance on the form or by Eventbrite. Meeker Lions Club will host a cash bar. The “Spirit of the Pioneers” awards will be presented to outstanding local exemplary citizens. The RBC Historical Society will record oral histories of families and class reunions. For guests wishing to stay overnight at Meeker hotels/motels lodging is available at discounted rates. Please join us for a great evening of fun while meeting old friends and new community members celebrating our cultural heritage “Boots and Roots.” All are welcome!

Extended pool hours begin July 29 at Meeker Rec Center

MEEKER | Beginning Monday, July 29, Meeker Recreation Center open swim pool hours will be extended from 8:30am to 6:00pm Monday through Friday. All other posted hours, including morning adult swim and weekend hours, remain the same. Full schedule, pool rules, and FAQs at erbmrec.com/center#pool
