MEEKER | Over Labor Day weekend, Johnny Rust, a determined participant in the National Western Stock Show (NWSS) Catch-a-Calf project, showcased his talents at the Colorado State Fair. Rust, who is well-known for his dedication to the Catch-a-Calf program, earned impressive results in the show ring, securing 4th place in both the Showmanship and Market Prospects classes.

Rust, accompanied by his steer “Pickles,” demonstrated skill and hard work, reflecting the significant effort he has invested in preparing for the competition. The Colorado State Fair served as an important milestone in Rust’s journey, providing valuable experience as he prepares for his final challenge of the season.

Looking ahead, Rust is gearing up for the culminating event of his Catch-a-Calf adventure: the National Western Stock Show, which will take place in early January. The preparation for this major show will be a crucial phase, as Rust and Pickles aim to build on their recent successes and make a strong impression.

Rust extended his heartfelt gratitude to the Lions Club for their unwavering support, which has been instrumental throughout his journey. He also expressed appreciation to all those who have supported him and Pickles along the way.
