Cowboy volleyball outscores Panthers by 22 points

MEEKER | A packed crowd watched the Meeker Cowboys finish the Rangely Panthers in three sets and outscore them by 22 points. The Cowboy offense worked hard, led by Reese Clatterbaugh with 13 kills earning themselves 15 points a set.

“I always talk about our earned points per set and we have been around 12, 13 points per set but Saturday we earned 15 points a set against Rangely,” commented head coach Greg Cravens. “With Rangely coming in 10-1 we knew we had to be at our best and we finally put together a full match.”

The Cowboys will need to continue working on a strong offensive game to have a chance to win matches.

Rylee Sullivan and Adi Selle combined for 13 more kills and the trio led the team to a great victory, 25-13, 25-18 and 25-22. Sullivan tacked on another four points with aces and Clatterbaugh had two.

“As I told the girls we knew it was going to be a battle and in the third set Rangely’s Cox and LeBleu made it a battle,” commented Cravens on the Panthers’ top players. “Kaitlyn [Cox]  spreading the ball around to their hitters and all over our court and Lexi’s [LeBleu] serving, we needed to step up our game that third set to get the win.”

The Cowboys will take on a tough Hayden team next Friday.
