ARRESTS
9/23/2024- A 49 year-old female was arrested by Colorado State Patrol for DUI. She was transported to jail.
9/24/2024- A 42 year-old male was arrested by Rangely PD for Menacing and 2nd degree Assault. He was transported to jail. He remains in custody.
9/25/2024- A 45 year-old male was arrested by Rangely PD on a Warrant. He remains in custody.
9/29/2024- A 25 year-old female was arrested by Meeker Police Dept. for Violation of a Protection Order.
CALL SUMMARIES
9/22/2024 @ 10:39 am. A deputy responded to make sure everything was okay after a male party stated he accidentally called 911 from an address on Highway 64. However, the caller had a warrant and was taken into custody. He was transported to jail.
9/22/2024 @ 10:20 pm. A Life360 alert prompted a call to the Communications Center to look for a vehicle that had possibly been involved in an accident. The vehicle was located by a deputy at approximately the 47 mile-marker on Highway 13. The single male occupant was deceased.
9/23/2024 @ 2:21 pm. Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office assisted Colorado State Patrol on roadside maneuvers at the 28 mile-marker on Highway 13. The female driver was taken into custody for DUI.
9/23/2024 @ 3:02 pm. An accident occurred at the 6.5 mile-marker on County Road 9 when a bicyclist fell and slid under the tire of a water truck. The cyclist was airlifted to the hospital. Colorado State Patrol is investigating the accident.
9/23/2024 @ 4:05 pm. A wildland fire was reported at the 28.5 mile-marker County Road 5. Meeker Volunteer Fire Dept. responded along with BLM Fire. The fire was contained at 7:39 pm.
9/25/2024 2 12:04 pm. A motorcycle crash at the 70 mile-marker on Highway 139 resulted in the driver being airlifted to a hospital.
9/26/2024 @ 2:53 pm. A routine traffic stop at 3rd/Cedar St. by Meeker PD resulted in the driver being taken into custody for DUI. He was issued a summons a released to a sober party.
9/26/2024 @ 9:50 pm. A Meeker resident called the Communications Center thinking that a male subject the police dept. was looking for was walking up Cedar as he had been “spotlighted” earlier. Later in the evening it was determined that a group of juveniles were playing a game of “spotlight” and this is what the reporting party had seen as the officer was not looking for anyone.
