Questions about local staffing at Pioneers
Dear Editor:
We are so fortunate to have such a great medical facility and staff that we do. For a small community we are truly Blessed. That being said, we recently were in the ER and there were only two people that we recognized. The medical staff that helped us were travelers and they were very efficient and kind. I’m not sure that upper management realizes, that as a patient, it lessens the stress and anxiety we have to see someone we know. I realize the PMC is a huge employer of Meeker but why are we not seeing the locals, people that have made Meeker their home? One of the travelers several months ago said they were going east to work and see friends since the hospital pays for their travel. Another one said they were putting in for Hawaii. When did PMC become a travel agency? Once again, every traveler that has helped us has been professional, efficient and kind but I can’t help but wonder what has happened to our locals. I have several questions for the CEO or management that hires the medical staff.
Are the travelers guaranteed a certain amount of hours?
If they are short, does a local employee have to give up theirs?
How many apartment buildings and houses does PMC own or lease?
Hopefully there is a balance of travelers and locals that live here. If someone wanted to make Meeker their home, finding something to rent is quite an issue because its all for travelers. If I remember correctly the property by the hospital was bought a couple of years ago for affordable housing. What ever happened to that? This is a question that I will ask the Town because the housing issue isn’t all the fault of PMC.
Once again, our doctors and medical staff are amazing and truly appreciated. These questions have come up quite a few times just in conversations so thought I would share. Thanks for your time.

Thank you for the surprise delivery
Dear Editor:
Thank you to my secret Santa that delivered wood to my porch on Tuesday, Dec. 14. Wow! What a nice surprise. I will try to pay this kind act forward…again…I am very grateful!
