Ah, the smell of false spring (aka thawing manure). As usual, our January cold snap has been replaced by a few days of unusually warm weather and bright blue skies. As I left the office on Tuesday, it occurred to me that I’ve never lived anywhere where spring — faux or real — smells like anything but a barnyard, which is fine, but leaves me wondering what spring smells like in other places.

Favorite funny headline this week comes from Atlas Obscura:
After I stopped laughing, I read the article. It’s a science story about comb jellyfish, considered some of the oldest living organisms on the planet, and bioluminescence.
An interesting story, but the headline was the best. Any excuse for a good chuckle is welcome these days.
