Rio Blanco County youth compete in Blackout 9 Livestock Judging Contest

RBC | Youth from Rio Blanco County competed in the Blackout 9 Livestock Judging Contest and Combine on Friday, facing competitors from across the country. More than 10 college coaches and representatives from western states attended, critiquing performances, offering scholarships, and providing networking opportunities for aspiring college livestock judges.

All Rio Blanco participants competed in the junior division, which included nearly 80 individuals and 30 teams.

Top Individual
Results:

Ally Black (Rangely) – 7th overall, 5th in cattle, 16th in placings, 10th in reasons, 1st in questions.

Hattie Brennan (Meeker) – 15th overall, 10th in cattle, 17th in sheep & goat, 17th in placings, 8th in reasons.

Paisley Potter (Rangely) – 16th overall, 5th in sheep & goat, 18th in placings, 18th in reasons.

Brodee Kilduff (Meeker) – 21st overall, 6th in sheep & goat.

Waylyn Tuck (Rangely) – 49th overall, 18th in sheep & goat, 16th in reasons.

Indica Rayburn (Rangely) – 50th overall.

Milo Brennan (Meeker) – 54th overall.

Amari Rayburn (Rangely) – 55th overall.

Lillie Potter (Rangely) – 64th overall.

Team Results:

Western Rio Blanco Team A (Black, Tuck, Potter) – 5th overall.

Meeker Team (H. Brennan, M. Brennan, Kilduff) – 10th overall.

Western Rio Blanco Team B (I. Rayburn, A. Rayburn, Potter) – 16th overall.

For several participants, this was their first contest, and they rose to the occasion with strong performances.
