MEEKER | Rio Blanco County 4-H members traveled from both ends of the county to Montrose for the Tri-River Area Livestock Judging Contest on May 10, 2025. They competed against youth from across the state, judging 12 classes of livestock, giving three sets of oral reasons, and answering two sets of questions. The event concluded with an awards ceremony and an end-of-year dance.
Rio Blanco 4-H was represented by three teams. Brodee Kilduff, Milo Brennan and Hattie Brennan, all of Meeker, formed one team. Copen Smith and Annabeth Moody, also of Meeker, joined Amari Rayburn of Rangely on a second team. The third team included Ally Black, Paisley Potter, Lillie Potter and Indica Rayburn, all of Rangely.
Hattie Brennan had a standout weekend, placing 10th high individual in sheep/goat, 9th in hogs, 6th in beef, 6th in placings, 11th in reasons and 6th overall.
Lillie Potter, competing as a novice junior, placed 10th in hogs. Her sister, Paisley Potter, placed 14th in hogs, 20th in beef, 14th in reasons and 19th overall. The team of Ally, Paisley, Lillie and Indica placed 5th in hogs.
While not all team members placed in the top 20, everyone gained valuable experience and represented Rio Blanco County 4-H with pride and enthusiasm.
