PRESS RELEASE
RANGELY | The 2025 Rangely OHV Adventure Rally (ROAR) returned with thunderous energy this year, delivering a powerful economic impact to local businesses, sparking community pride, and drawing off-road enthusiasts from across the region.
Held in the rugged and scenic high desert around Rangely, ROAR brings in participants from New Mexico, Texas, Utah, Wyoming, and beyond—proving that Rangely’s wild terrain is a bucket-list destination for OHV lovers.
According to Placer.ai data—which uses anonymized mobile location data to track foot traffic trends—ROAR week saw a 2,500-visit increase across five major local businesses, with an average of 500 more people in town over the weekend. Local motels, restaurants, gas stations, and retailers saw the benefits firsthand as the ripple effect of ROAR visitors was felt across town and speaks volumes about the power of community-driven events.
“It takes a town,” said event organizers. “Every volunteer, sponsor, and business played a role in welcoming visitors and showing them the true spirit of Rangely. Together, we didn’t just host an event—we created memories, sparked new friendships, and celebrated our shared love for the outdoors.”
One of the most meaningful achievements of the weekend came during the always-popular Poker Run, which raised an impressive $1,887.66 for Rio Blanco County Search and Rescue. The funds will support the critical work of our local emergency responders who help keep our backcountry adventures safe.
This year also saw the debut of a “Rally Rockstar” acknowledgment, allowing attendees to nominate standout volunteers and trail leaders. Among those recognized were Wade Rusher and Logan Osborne, who were both celebrated for their energy and enthusiasm.
“The guy that led Oil Springs Saturday was sooo fun and a hoot,” wrote one participant. Another praised Dan and Bobbi Fiscus: “It was awesome to end up at the rock crawling park—even though it wasn’t planned. Seeing those machines crawl the rocks was amazing!”
Both the Friday Night Shrimp Boil and Saturday Night BBQ Dinner during the OHV Rodeo sold out, thanks to the hard work of Brad and Michelle Casto, owners of Rangely Napa, and their dedicated team of local volunteers who served up incredible food and warm hospitality.
One of the weekend’s biggest crowd-pleasers was the debut of the Backseat Driver Flag Race. In this hilarious event, blindfolded drivers relied entirely on their passengers’ shouted directions—broadcast live to the audience. Married couples stole the show with their banter, and a few daring participants even attempted the course on motorcycles, bringing the crowd to its feet.
New this year was the hilarious and surprisingly spooky Sasquatch Hunt, with the red-eyed beast hiding on trails and startling unsuspecting riders—especially during the Night Ride behind Kenney Reservoir. For young adventurers, a Metal Silhouette Scavenger Hunt turned the trails into an imaginative playground. With dinosaurs, eagles, dragons, bears, and more—donated by Chamber member D-FAB—kids were treated to a free ROAR t-shirt for participating.
