Open Drop-in Community Meeting TODAY for landowners affected by the Lee & Elk Fires

MEEKER | We understand there are many challenges following the recent fires, and we want to ensure landowners have support and clear information moving forward. Join us for an open, drop-in, community meeting where staff from the BLM, Rio Blanco County, and the Conservation Districts will be on hand to listen, answer questions, and share resources. TODAY from 1–4 p.m. at the Fire Protection District in Meeker. 

Meeker Food Bank food drive now through Oct. 4

MEEKER | In conjunction with Food Bank of the Rockies, the Meeker Food Bank (at White River Methodist Church) is holding a food drive now through Oct. 4. Drop-off locations are Watt’s (our local Food Bank is giving their spot to this project for two weeks), Pioneers Medical Center, all three Meeker schools, Meeker Christian Church, and Streamline Realty. All shelf stable/non-perishable items are accepted, so long as they are not damaged, expired, or packaged in glass. 

146th commemoration of Battle at Milk Creek Sept. 29 

MEEKER | Monday, Sept. 29 marks the 146th commemoration of the Battle at Milk Creek and the Meeker Incident. The public is welcome to visit the Milk Creek site (17 miles from Meeker on CR 15) at sunrise (7:06 a.m.) to remember and reflect. 

Love Meeker? Seasonal volunteers wanted

MEEKER | Do you love Meeker and enjoy meeting new people? The Meeker Chamber of Commerce is looking for part-time, seasonal volunteers to help greet visitors, answer phones, hand out maps, and share all the wonderful things our town has to offer. Fairfield Trust grant applications due on Wednesday, Oct. 1

MEEKER | Applications for the October semi-annual Fairfield Trust grants are due Wednesday, Oct. 1. Applications available at the Herald Times office (304 4th St.) and mailed to P.O. Box 2302 or dropped off at White River Electric Association (Attn: J.H.).

Babysitter Training Course Nov. 14-15

MEEKER | Learn how to provide quality care to children of all ages and obtain your Pediatric First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications. This American Red Cross class will be taught Friday, Nov. 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 15 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.$75 each for certification and Training Handbook, ages 12+. Candy donations sought for Walbridge Wing trick-or-treaters

MEEKER | The Walbridge Wing at Pioneers Medical Center is seeking candy donations for residents to hand out to trick-or-treaters on Halloween. If you can donate a bag of treats, please drop it off at 100 Pioneer Medical Center Dr., in Meeker.
