Dr. Ketcham returns to the capital city with the hide of a black bear to his credit. The doctor intended to leave for Denver Monday but Homer Goff discovered bear tracks in the Flag Creek hills a few days before and imparted the information to him. This was enough.

Meeker’s History: According to one resident of Meeker the history of this town can be dissected easily into three epochs, much the same as Ancient, Medieval and Modern History. These three important happenings which mark the various stages of Meeker’s history are: Ancient – Meeker Massacre, Medieval – The Bank Robbery, Modern – The Raid.

A big success last year, Jean Welder is once again offering a 10-week yoga program through the N.W. Community College.
Receiving their trophies as first, second, or third place winners in the Punt, Pass and Kick Competition recently are these Meeker boys: Mike Lennon, Todd Morris, Ladd Klinglesmith, Alva Abney, Eric Blanke, Dean Mantle, Doug Rosa and Mike Seely.
Having the best receiving day of his career, Dave Seely gathers in another pass from Dale Dunbar in Meeker’s 30-6 homecoming romp over Steamboat.

Two accidents were reported by Colorado State Patrolman, Stevenson Willson this week… John E. Fausett, 20, hit a cow on Colo. 139 the road south of Rangley. The animal walked away in fair condition. The following day, Victor E. Clement, 32, of Rangley was westbound on Color. 64 fifteen miles west of Rangely in a 1969 Mustang when he sideswiped a pickup truck. Clement suffered from multiple fractures of his left elbow.
The Rangely High School Panthers blasted Battle Mountain High School Friday night in a rain-soaked football game at Avon by a score of 48-6. Senior tailback, Alan Stalhecker and bruising junior fullback Tom Haas led the Panther offensive that rolled up 347 total yards.

Rangely School Board President Ken Parsons presented RHS principal Mike Kruger with a plaque from the Boettcher Foundation. The plaque honors the school and recent graduate Pat Tolley and former graduate Chris Powell, recipients of the prestigious scholarship.
The Town of Meeker is continuing to make an honest effort to place dogs without a home through the Pick-a-Pet program. This week there are four good dogs at the pound, each of which would make a great family pet.
Syble Barney, president of the Rio Blanco Historical Society, has good reason to be excited. The renovation project of the Garrison is near completion.
