On Sunday, the masonic brothers of Rio Blanco Lodge No. 80, AF and AM, held their annual celebration of George Washington’s birthday with food, refreshment and a dessert auction. The proceeds of the auction go toward scholarships for local high school graduates to attend in-state schools. George Washington was initiated into Freemasonry in October 1752, at the age of 20 and by August of the following year was raised to Master Mason. Although there were many masons during our nation’s founding years, George Washington is held by many as one of the finest examples of duty to God, our nation, our neighbors and ourselves. This year marks the 125th anniversary of the charter for Meeker’s Rio Blanco Lodge No. 80 and members look forward to a new year of brotherly love, truth and charity.
