Meeker Recreation Center News: August 28, 2008

n Mini soccer ages 5-6, soccer I ages 7-9 and soccer II ages 10-13 began this week. Cost is $25. Registrations will be taken through Sept. 5. A $10 late fee will be charged for registrations taken after Aug. 26. For details see the Aug.-Nov. brochure, call, come in or go online. Note: all ages will play at Paintbrush Park.
n After-school mania. Groovy Mooves began Aug. 25. Participants will play games like Twister, duck duck goose, and hopscotch and use various types of equipment like mats, medicine balls and jump ropes. The program is for grades PreK-second and third-fifth. Cost is $20/$25 respectively for four weeks. This is the after school program with a new look. Registrations will be taken until the maximum of ten is met. For details see the Aug.-Nov. brochure, call, come in or go online.
n Pom squad for children age 7 and older began Aug. 26. Practice is on Tuesdays from 6-7 p.m. Cost is $25. The squad will perform at the MHS home football games and the MHS homecoming parade and football game. Registrations are still being taken.
n Home school swim lessons are being scheduled now. Lessons will run through September in the early afternoon on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Call 878-3403 ext. 208 for details.
n Yoga and yoga stretch classes continue through Sept. 24. They are both drop-in classes. Call, click, come in or see the Aug.-Nov. brochure for details.
n For safety reasons, the Meeker Rec Center Pool closes during lightning storms. If in doubt, it is recommended that you call ahead.
n The season finale of the Summer Entertainment Series will feature Jon Chandler and the Wichitones on Saturday, Sept. 6 at 4 p.m. Bring your own seating and a friend to the courthouse lawn for a fun evening!
