MEEKER I The White River Community Association will hold its annual Fish Fry Fundraiser on June 13 at the Buford School on County Road 17.
The fundraiser, which supports upkeep and improvement of the historic Buford School, will run from 4 to 6 p.m. at the schoolhouse. Travel east on County Road 8 about 20 miles east of Meeker. Turn right at the Lake Avery spillway, then turn left at the stop sign on County Road 17, over the bridge and around the curve for about 1.5 miles.
Donations for the meet are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors 65 and over, $5 for children ages 6-11, and children 5 and under are free.
“Everyone is invited to come join us for great home-cooked, deep fried whitefish and all the fixin’s and a down-home upriver good time,” WRCA publicist for the event Boots Campbell said.
Campbell assured those who attend that peanut oil will not be used to fry the fish.
Proceeds from the event will be used for continued improvements and maintenance to the historic Buford School.
