Eleven artists and 43 paintings were entered in the annual Plein Air Art contest that started in mid-June and concluded on July 4. The two-week competition centered on “open air art” painted within a 50-mile radius of downtown Meeker. Best of Show winner was Meeker’s Maym Cunningham with “East Pasture;” second place went to Meeker’s Pat Sheeran-Daggett with “The Jensen House;” third place went to Charles Morris with “Shadows Advancing;” and two honorable mentions went to Mary Pat Ettinger with “Faded Dreams” and Susan Thiele with “Scott’s Bay Estuary—Trapper’s Lake.” At left is Cunningham’s winning Best of Show painting.
