Rangely swimmers do well at Western Slope tourney

RANGELY I Rangely swimmers did very well at the 2015 Western Slope League Championships held during the past weekend in Grand Junction.
Fifteen Rangely swimmers placed at the meet, and they were led by 15-year-old Patrick Scoggins, who placed in six events and was voted the Western Slope League Athlete Representative by all the coaches in the league.

“Patrick is a humble athlete who works hard,” Coach Torrie Slagle said. “He is in the 15-and-over age group and the youngest of his age group. Despite being the youngest, Patrick has already qualified for state in three events and he ranks with the best on the Western Slope.
Patrick shaved time off in each of his events,” Slagle said. “This weekend he was competing against 24-year-old college swimmers and was able to swim right there with them.”
Patrick also plans to attend the Summer Club Championship meet in Fort Morgan and win high-point swimmer for the 15-and-over boys of all Colorado summer swim cubs.
