On Friday and Saturday, the Eastern Rio Blanco Metropolitan Recreation and Park District in Meeker will once again host a series of events for area youths, and young people of all ages are invited to join in the fun.
MEEKER I Children and adults are invited to participate in the many Halloween festivities the Eastern Rio Blanco Metropolitan Recreation & Park District has to offer Friday and Saturday. Check out the following events for all things spooky, haunted and fun:

Halloween Splash Bash
Kindergarten through eighth-grade youths are invited to this haunted pool party on Friday at the Meeker Recreation Center Pool.
For just $3, youth can swim in the pool and enjoy a Halloween party provided by the district. Kindergarten through fifth graders swim from 1 to 3 p.m., and sixth through eighth graders swim from 4 to 6 p.m.
Bring a swimsuit and towel; all the fun will be provided. Note: All children under the age of 8 must be supervised by someone over the age of 13.
Third Annual Zombie Run
Participants 10 years and older are invited to run through the lower portion of the trails in Phillip & Dorcas Jensen Memorial Park on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Third Annual Zombie Run.
Runners must avoid the zombies who want to infect them and maybe even eat their brains.
To survive the zombie apocalypse, participants must get back to the “Safe Zone” without being infected by zombie dust.
All runners must meet at Sanderson Hills Park at 9:45 a.m. for a safety meeting. This race is not timed, and participants should wear light-colored clothing and shoes they don’t mind having dyed with color.
Note: No dogs, bikes, or strollers are allowed on the course.
Pumpkins Eats ‘N Treats
The Halloween week festivities conclude with the annual Pumpkins Eats ‘N Treats event on Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m. on the Courthouse lawn.
Kids and adults are invited for trick-or-treating courtesy of many of the Meeker businesses, a Haunted House will take place at the Old West Heritage Culture Center, chili and drinks will be provided by the eighth grade class, and a costume parade and contest will take place.
Everyone is urged to come, dressed in your best Halloween costume.
