• Wanted — A housekeeper on my ranch, 15 miles from Meeker. Myself, aged 35, and two hired men is the size of family; I have a neat home and want a neat, willing, good-natured, good-looking girl or widow not over 35 years old that understands canning of fruits and jellies; steady position for right party; will pay $25 per month. • J.C. Sullivan on Nine Mile was a town visitor Tuesday. Mr. Sullivan reports grass good in his section.
• Try our evaporated apples, best quality, none better, 12 1/2 cents the pound, at A. Oldland & Co’s.
• Program for the Fourth of July: Young Folks’ Sports consisting of foot races, pony races, catching greased pig, pie eating contest, sack and wheelbarrow races, etc.

The Meeker Herald — 50 years ago
• Prominent Rio Blanco County cattleman Si Berthleson was elected first vice president of the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association.
• A second highway patrolman was assigned to the Meeker area.
• Donald Nasar, the new administrator for Pioneers Hospital, was due to arrive from his home in Lawrence, Kan., this week.
• Miss Sandra Idol wed Joseph Shimko in a pretty church wedding at the Meeker Methodist Church.

• One of the highlights of the 10th anniversary celebration of the Freeman Fairfield Center was a gymnastic exhibition performed by Debbie Wilson’s students.
• Channel 2 out of Denver will be on the air soon, according to the county’s TV technician, Burr Singleton.
• In school board business, reports were delivered concerning the elementary school flooding problem, and the steps that are being taken to correct this.
• With funds provided by the county, Meeker’s golf course planted almost 50 poplar trees at various spots around the course.

The Rangely Times — 50 years ago
• Dick Henneberger, new town clerk, arrived in Rangely this week from Missouri.
• Honored at a prenuptial shower was Miss Donna Wagner, whose marriage to Eugene Powell is to be solemnized in the Mormon church June 25.
• Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Scott, Scott Jr., and Rodney fished with the Jerry Woolseys on Rifle Creek over the weekend. Wallace Jr. hooked a prize, a trout weighing 5 pounds and measuring 24.5 inches.

The Rangely Times — 35 years ago
• Groundbreaking ceremonies were held for the new Rangely Clinic.
• Construction began on 24 apartments in the Canyoncrest Subdivision.
• A June 8 snowstorm cut phone service for Rangely residents for four days. Nearly 50 telephone poles were down in the Maybell area after the storm, as well as many tree branches in Rangely.

The Rangely Times — 20 years ago
• The Rangely Board of Trustees adopted an urban renewal plan as part of their master plan.
• The first annual Bedrock Days country music talent show was held during Bedrock Days in Dinosaur. Kimberly Staley won first place with her renditions of “Have I Got a Deal for You” by Reba McEntire and “Crazy” by Patsy Cline.
• Jessica Leaming, 7, was the spotlight student for the Rangely Library. Tim VanZant answered the first book clue for kindergarten and first grade.
